Cabinets

The cabinets were installed. The are Hickory and look great.
The doors will be installed later.

Vitex

The Vitex by the driveway is blooming. Can you take a cutting off these or grow them from seed? Or would it be easier to buy one at a nursery?

Lynne's Front Door

Today they put in my front door. It looks so good!!!! I absolutely love it. The guys came in and textured the walls. According to the schedule they are going to install cabinets, trim, and then paint. We are scheduled to go to Home Depot on Thursday night to pick out lights, fans, appliances, etc. Yippee!!!
We noticed that the trim was in the garage and the interior doors were on the front porch.
Later in the evening, Grandpa came by with the cedar posts for the front porch. Believe me, they were heavy. Jeff and I unloaded all 20 of them. Grandpa videoed the whole event.

Car and Truck

On the way to Lorena for the baseball came we came across this entering the freeway. The stainless steel body was gleaming nicely.
We looked for the flux capacitor but didn't see one. Did anyone else want a DeLorean after seeing "Back to the Future"?
We drove thru downtown Lorena on the way home. We saw this and thought of Uncle Alan.

Baseball Playoffs- Round 3

Round 3 of the playoffs started Friday night in Lorena. We played the Crawford Pirates (the President didn't show up). It was a nice cool night for baseball. It must have been a slow news day in Waco.
Lorena had a beautiful field. We played into the night. It was a tight game till the end. Maypearl lost 2-3.

As the sun sank slowly in the west we prepared to come back the next day at 2 o'clock for game 2, followed by game 3 if necessary.

Saturday afternoon was HOT. As you can tell from all the umbrellas. We scored 6 runs in the first inning (their pitcher hit 4 of our batters and then they took him out of the game).
Crawford staged a comeback though and ended up winning the game 8-16. There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The team knelt together for a season ending prayer.
One last team photo. The 2006 Baseball season is now over for the Maypearl Panthers.

Tape and Bed

They taped and bedded the house. GranPa says you should have seen the guy on stilts doing the living room.
Our shower was delivered too. They still have to slide it into place and sheetrock around it.
Lynne's front door was delivered too. They will put it in later.

Drywall and Windows

The windows are all in. Lynne found a broken pane in one of the small back windows so it will have to be replaced.
The drywall crew got most of the sheetrock up today. They still had a little left to do in the living room and our bedroom.

TXU finally started installing the electric line. It looks like the local wildlife likes the poles.

Insulation and Stuff

They finished wrapping the house today. It's a vapor and moisture barrier.
The drywall was delivered. It will go up Wednesday morning.
The boys shower was installed. The one for our bathroom came but had a crack in it. The plumber sent it back. The new one will come Wednesday morning.
I took today off work and Andy was "sick". We installed our "blue jean" insulation. It's made from 85 percent recycled cotton fibers. It doesn't itch like fiberglass.
I wouldn't have done it if it did.

This is an attic view of our expanded foam insulation. It's made out of soybeans.
Lynne's front door will be delivered Wednesday and the windows will be delivered Wednesday. Wednesday is a very busy day.

Happy Mothers Day!

Well, since my mother was in California today with my older sister (Hi Mom, we love you!), Lynne decided to have a picnic lunch at our new house. So we spread out in the dining room for our Mothers Day meal. It was our first meal in our new house. The Inman Clan came over to eat with us. So we also had the first party at the new house.
Here is a picture of the duct work in the attic. It's like a giant silver octopus.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

On the way home from Hillsboro we got to pace the tail end of a UP coal train.
When we got home we heard a strange sound, looked up into the sky and saw this. It was a small jet of some kind. It buzzed Walcott's air field a few times, did a couple of rolls and loops, and then flew off.

OK, I didn't take this picture. I got it off a web site. On the way to Hillsboro we got passed by a flat bed wrecker carrying one of these. A brand new, silver Lamborghini Gallardo. Now there's something you don't see every day. If only I had an extra $166,000.

Baseball Playoffs- Round 2

We drove to Waco Thursday night for the first game against Hamilton. We were on a Catholic schools field about 1 mile east of Baylor University, in the Brazos river bottom. It was a nice cool night and the mosquitoes were about the size of small planes. That's Andy of second base. He went in as a courtesy runner for one of our injured players. Unfortunately, the coach told him to run on a fly ball that the center fielder made an excellent catch on. They threw him out before he got back to base.
We had a couple of great innings and won the game 12-5.

Game 2 was at noon today in Hillsboro at the Hill College field. It was in the upper 80's and hot. No mosquitoes, but yellow jackets kept buzzing the crowd. Andy didn't get into this game but I could hear him yelling from the dugout.

The field on Thursday was nicer than this one, but it was a good day for baseball.
In case you can't read it the score was 13 us, 8 them.
We're moving on to the next round. We will play either Crawford or Peaster.

Roof and Ducts

The roofers were finishing up this morning and the A/C guy is finished with most of his work. I'll climb into the attic later for more pictures of the ducts.

Playoffs- Round 1 Over

These are grainy pictures because they are off my camera phone, but it’s all I had. Lynne had the good camera at the boat race. They played game 2 at 1 o’clock today and Maypearl lost. This forced a game 3.Andy got put into the game as a pinch runner because our catcher hurt his foot. That's him right over Jesse's head between the post and the coach. He didn't score but made it all the way to third.
After the final out the guys mobbed each other in the middle of the field.
They shook hands and told the Clifton guys they played a great game (and they did).
OK, you can't read it but it says we won the game 9 to 7! It was a very exciting game! We're moving on to the next round!

The Cardboard Boat Regatta

Will went to Hurricane Harbor today for the 17th annual cardboard boat regatta. They named their boat “The Death Star”. It was 17 feet long!!
Will smiled for his adoring public (AKA Mom).
Here is the whole team ready to race. They were posing for a Star Telegram photographer at the time.
Not every boat made a successful run.
Will and teammate Carson paddled hard in the first run and finished with a time of 3:52.
The rest of the team was paddling the next heats, so Will decided he was tired and wanted to come home. We don’t know how they came out in the final event.
