Maypearl at Grandview

We went to Grandview Friday night for the game between the Maypearl Panthers and the Grandview Striped Donkeys (see, I was nice).
The game was not pretty. But I went for the band. I sat in the cold to support my son. Lynne went grocery shopping at the nice warm store.
Notice that Will is in a t-shirt, Haden is in a parka, and there is another kid wrapped in a blanket. Will handles the cold well.
The Maypearl Band played well. They weren't facing us so we couldn't hear them that well. When Grandviews band took the field I thought, "They're HUGE!". Then they announced that it was band night and that was 6th through High School on the field.
Maypearl lost 56-0.

New Member for the Digging Club

I think Chico would make an excellent addition to the Digging Club. He looks so sweet and innocent in the picture. But he sure can move alot of dirt.
His sister, Rosie, said "I didn't have anything to do with that. He is in trouble, isn't he?"
Bitsy, the momma dog, had a trip to see Dr Rex on Friday. She layed around on the couch all evening to try and sleep off the drugs. She couldn't walk very well either. But we won't have to worry about her having 10 puppies again.

NAFTA, TTC, and the North American Union

While I'm delivering mail I have the privilege of being able to listen to the Point Of View radio talk show. The host, Kirby Anderson, gave a great commentary that tied Nafta and the TransTexas corridor into the North American Union. It was very interesting and I recommend everyone read it themselves. You can download the pdf file from their web sit.

Maypearl vs Dublin

We went to Maypearl Friday night for the game between the Panthers and the Fighting Shamrocks of Dublin (actually I think they are the Lions). We took Will early for band and watched the players warm up for awhile.
The drum corps was playing a cool marching beat as the band hit the field. There was barely enough light to take a picture without the flash, so it came out a little blurry. Will is third in line.

It was chilly sitting in the stands, but at least the wind died down from earlier in the day. The band performed at half time and I could tell they have improved since I heard them last. Maypearl ended up losing the game.

Misc. Items

Well our cat doesn't have her own web page so we have to post her pictures here. I think she is content at the new house.
Will took a couple of pictures of the puppies. That's Chico in the lawn chair. They both love to sit in those.
The eyes belong to Rosie. She doesn't stand still long enough to get a good picture.
We had a pretty sunset the other night.

FBC Groundbreaking

Last Sunday we met in a big tent out on the Churches property for a groundbreaking ceremony. It was very cold and windy that day. Of course, that would be the day that my digital camera freaked out and wouldn't work. Luckily Jay T. Gann was there with his nice fancy digital camera and took lots of pictures. You can go to his web site (www.pantherpics.smugmug.com) and see those pictures and a lot of pictures of school activities too. Hopefully you have a high speed connection for his site. If you need help with the password just look at the web address.

Band Competition Last Saturday

Hadens mom sent us these pictures of Will and Haden from last weeks band competition in Burleson. The band got a 3rd Division score for their performance. If you cant read the captions go here for a bigger picture.

What is it?

Ok, family members. Does anyone remember what this is and where it came from? If it's an idol for some strange pagan ceremony, I don't want to know about it.

I Cannot Vote For This Man

The latest version of the TransTexas Corridor has the 1200ft wide project coming within 1/2 mile of my house. I don't recall the voters (aka- you an me) of the great state of Texas ever saying they wanted this. Did you vote to approve the largest land grab in state history (one-half a million acres)?
Then who came up with this plan? That would be Governor Rick Perry. Apparently he has no problem taking family farms away from his fellow Texans. That is why I cannot and will not vote for this man.

Homecoming 2006

Last night was the big Homecoming game between the Maypearl Panthers and the Venus Bulldogs. Lynne and I got there early to drop Will off at the band hall and went into the gym to watch the girls volleyball game (they beat RioVista). While watching the last match I heard a deep booming sound and asked Lynne what that sound was. It was the band marching onto the field! We ran out of the volleyball game to go support #2 son.We got out there in time to get a picture of them marching around the track to the stands. Will said he had to watch real close so as not to run into Haden in front of him. Ryler behind him kept pushing him with his drum.
The band played on the field before the game because of halftime activities. Will and his buddy Haden haven't learned all the songs yet so they just sat in the stands.
It was a good game for Maypearl. We were leading at the half, 21-0. Does a blurry picture indicate a cheap digital camera, poor photography, or both?
The band stood there at halftime and played "Isn't She Lovely" for the Queen contestants. Will is standing with his back to us right in front of the drum row, holding sheet music for the flute player.
The stands were packed!
The grounds were packed!
That's the band director Mr. Ferguson playing trumpet behind Will and the drum corps. They had 4 bass drums and you could feel them from the other end of the stands.
Maypearl won the game 30-7. We all sang the school song (not really, I don't know the words) and headed home.

Maypearl Drum Corps

Will is in the Marching Band now. The uniform is so black it doesn't show up well in the picture. The drum corps is solid black and he will be getting a black beret to go with it. They went to Hamilton for the game last night and didn't get home until 1am. Next week is homecoming and he may get to march on the field with the rest of the band for the first time. He's just been sitting in the stands with them until he learns all the songs. By the way, Maypearl lost to Hamilton, 7 to 74.

Peaceful Morning?

It's hard to sleep late on a Saturday morning with 3 huge shaker trucks running outside the window. I hope they find what they are looking for though. Lynne said she could live with the sound of a drilling rig outside for a few months.

Dude! Where's my Ball?

You may have noticed that there are cows on the fairway. It does make for some interesting hazards to try and avoid. I'd rather have sand traps. Maypearl has been given a grant by the PGA and part it goes to training kids in 4th,, 5th, and 6th grade. Once they get to 7th grade they start competing in Jr. PGA tournaments and then in High School they compete in smaller PGA tournaments. Jesse couldn't wait to sign up.

Clear The Roads!!!

Well, #1 son turned 16. He now takes over command of the Toyota Pick-up. Or as he refers to it, the "Joyota". Of course it doesn't run, isn't inspected, and he has no insurance. Lets just hope he doesn't end up like the second picture.

This Past Weekend

On Saturday we had some rain so we went grocery shopping and in the process bought Jesse his new golf clubs. He is stylin' now. They are black and silver and very slick looking. After we got home and put away the groceries we started grilling burgers for Andy's birthday bash. We were expecting somewhere between 10-??? kids. Ron and Debbie Inman came over with their kids to party with Jeff and me. HOOPLA!!!! We grilled 40 hamburgers and had the fixins' for that with chips and salsa. The Inmans brought soupapilla cheesecake (yum!!!). The kids watched a movie while eating and then went outside to goof off. The highlight of the evening was watching Ron and Steelman grab the electric fence and then the t-post and shocking themselves silly. We laughed so hard at them. (For those who don't know, the electric fence will pop you really good if you do this.) Part of the reason this was so funny was because Ron did it first just goofing off and then convinced Steelman (who had just witnessed Ron doing this) to do the same thing. It was hilarious!! After that we shut off all the lights in the house and let the kids play Murder in the Dark while Jeff and I watched a DVD on the portable dvd player in the dining room. At about 1100pm everyone went home and we went to bed. On Sunday afternoon, we spent some time with grandma and grandpa at their house and then came home. We decided that since we still had the grill here we would use it. We grilled pork chops, chicken, and sausage. All we have to do this week is heat up the meat and add some side dishes. I love that. The weather was nice and comfortably cool. I figure somewhere in the low 80's or high 70's. Beautiful weather. Well, I wanted to share this laid back time with all. Have a blessed week and enjoy the season.

We're Back Up and Running

Well, I know that it has been a long time but we have internet service at the new house and hopefully will post new photos soon. We will try to keep a better update on the blog now that we are settled in. To bring everyone up to date, we are moved into the new house and loving it. We are down to 2 puppies that we had deemed ours anyway and the others were adopted over the Antique Alley weekend. Andy turned 16 and got a truck. Lynne turned 40 (what else can you say?). We learned this week that we are to be an aunt and uncle again via Darin and Nocona. Will is drumming around with the High School Marching Band, Andy is on varsity baseball and basketball, and Jesse has started working with the golf crew. That is the condensed version of our lives at this time.

The Long Delay

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a long time. We are in the new house, but we don't have internet access yet. I barely have time to check e-mail at Gran-pa's house, let alone update my blog. I hope that will all change soon.

TEN?!!??!?!!

Does she look stressed? Can you believe that little dog was carrying 10 puppies?
We are taking orders. We will ship to Grandview, Maypearl, New Braunfels, Wimberley, San Angelo, Concord California, or South East Asia.

Washinton DC- Day 1

We had a great view out our airplane window on the trip out. We were on the next to last row.

We met a group in the DFW airport from a private school in FtWorth. They were also headed for Student Leadership University (SLU). We stayed with them most of the first day.To bad the Metro line didn't go to the hotel.
There were several SLU groups waiting on the free hotel shuttle. See that little van? See all those people? They called for backup and got us all there pretty quick.
We finally got to the hotel before check in time, so we left our luggage in a meeting room and caught the hotel shuttle to the Pentagon Center Mall for lunch. We got back to the hotel and had to wait around to check in for the conference.
This was the meeting room at the hotel where we had our meals and all our speakers.
The speakers the first night were Bob Record and Admiral Cook.
Here is a close-up of Andy and Admiral Cook.

All the Stuff That Has Happened

Well, the septic may have caused some problems but it is now in and working great. We were suppose to close on the house on July 7th but that didn't happen because they forgot to send our the appraiser. We were suppose to close on July 11th but that didn't happen because they forgot to send out the surveyor. Now we are scheduled (haha) to close on July 24th. We will see.

In the meantime, Will and Jesse went to Mimi and Papa's for a mini vacation while Jeff and Andy went to Washington DC for SLU 201. You will hear more about that from them I am sure.

I scraped the master bathroom floor, the kitchen floor, and with some help from my friends Debbie and Ron we scraped the perimeter of the living room and dining room. This was because Grandpa has a friend who is coming to professionally finish scraping the rest of the floors in the house. I have asked myself many times over the past 24 hours why I didn't think of this sooner. I still don't know. what I do know is that if you get the urge to scrape your own floors, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! You will hurt in places you never thought possible and swelling of joints in hands and fingers is guaranteed. Save yourself the pain. The floors will look great once they are done. I look forward to that. Other than that the house is clean and the bathrooms are fully derocrated and ready for use. Hopefully we can start moving in soon. I am hoping it will be before school starts.

In case you haven't heard, I get to move to 6th grade this year and I am so looking forward to the new school year starting. Yes, I am excited about school. We have been so blessed this year and I welcome all my friends and family to come out to the new house for a tour, cold drink, and a good visit.

Septic Woes

They started putting in the septic system but one of the tanks broke as they put it into the ground. They had to wait for a replacement. That's GranPa in the window.

They put 2 sprinklers down the hill from the house.

GranPa feed the cows some cubes on his way out the driveway.

4th Family Reunion

We went to Weatherford on the 4th for the annual Pipes reunion. There was a group of about 43 this year.
All the boys played an exciting baseball game.
That night we went into Maypearl for the community fireworks show. They had free hotdogs, drinks, and train rides for the little kids.
It wasn't a high budget event, but the fire dept set off fireworks for about 15 minutes. It was alot of fun.
